The magical friendship of Phoebe and her best friend, unicorn Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, is back in this second adventure of a girl and her mythical creature! One year has passed since Phoebe skipped a rock across a pond, accidentally hit a unicorn in the face, and was granted a single wish—which she used to make the unicorn, Marigold Heavenly Nostrils, her obligational best friend. In some ways, not much has changed. At school, Phoebe still clashes with her rival–and sometimes “frenemy”–he ever-taunting and imperious Dakota. Outside of school, she still fills her free time with extra-credit homework assignments, dramatic monologs about the injustices associated with school cliques, and imaginative conspiracy theories regarding global forces like the “powerful construction paper lobby.” But unlike before, Phoebe now has a best friend to share it with—someone to make her laugh and to listen to all her extravagant ideas. Perhaps most important, watch as this surprising friendship between a charming, nine-year-old dreamer and a vain, mythical beast forever changes both of them for the better (Amazon).
I like Unicorn on a Roll because there’s a unicorn in it and I love unicorns. But what’s different about this unicorn is that she has a long neck, is so pretty, and is so, so funny. She’s a fashionable unicorn!
Marigold Heavenly Nostrils name is so funny because I always think of glowing, magical nose holes when I read the name!
I really think other people should read this book because I like how Pheobe and Marigold Heavenly Nostrils get along. They’re very different from each other but they’re still best friends. My favorite part was when the cat batted Marigold’s tail, and she said, “What are you doing back there?” And Phoebe said, “Making the internet.”
My other favorite part is when Marigold Heavenly Nostrils makes a snow sculpture of herself, and Phoebe made a sculpture of herself. Phoebe said, “Magic is cheating.” And then Marigold said, “Thumbs are cheating.”
I think this book is so funny, and I like the way she draws the pictures and makes the comics. I like being able to draw these kinds of pictures too, especially unicorns like Marigold Heavenly Nostrils (hehehehe). I can’t wait to read the other Phoebe and Her Unicorn books!
